Recently, we received a heartwarming letter from a special member of our Stony Meadows family, Asher, a Mini Golden Retriever puppy now living his best life in Arizona. We thought we’d share his letter with you.
Dear Ivan,
It has been a couple of months since I was born, and I thought I would write to check in and tell you how happy I am. I thought it might be a good idea to make this a regular thing because I have many questions—too many for one email or blog post. So I thought I would start with the obvious one. Am I really a “Mini” Golden Retriever?
Where do I start? First off, the trip to Arizona was spectacular. The crate was well-stocked and quite comfortable. Everyone was very careful and kind as I made my journey west.
Mom and Dad are a bit more mature than I expected, but they are totally cool. Dad and I get up very early for what he calls “Quiet Time” before our morning walks. Each day, we walk through the neighborhood for about two miles. He likes to keep a brisk pace, which I have adapted to, and he occasionally lets me get some big sniffs in.
Oh, and oh my gosh! There is some wildlife in the neighborhood. We have coyotes and javelinas—have you ever heard of such a thing? They are UGLY!
Mini Golden Retriever
Recently, Mom and Dad took me to the vet for a check-up and put me in this basket to weigh me. What the heck? Although, I do look pretty cute.
They have this HUGE water dish in the backyard that I get to drink from when I get back from my walks. Mom taught me to drink out of the corner. I am curious why it has steps in the corner. I will send a picture next time so you can help me figure this one out.
Rumor is I have a half-sister in the neighborhood. Mom says they learned of Stony Meadows from Belle’s Mom. Do you know who that is?
There is so much more to ask you, but I just wanted to send a note and tell you how much I love my life. Thank you for what you do; being a Mini Golden Retriever breeder is a great job. What is a Mini Golden Retriever?
A Mini Golden Retriever, sometimes called a Comfort Retriever®, is a hybrid breed we carefully developed as a designer breeder. Our goal was to create a dog with the wonderful, gentle temperament and classic beauty of a Golden Retriever but in a smaller, more manageable size and quickly becoming the breed to own.
To achieve this, we thoughtfully cross a Golden Retriever with a smaller breed, with a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. This combination results in puppies, like you, that typically grow to be between 20-45 pounds. This smaller size makes them a perfect fit for a variety of homes and lifestyles, from active families to individuals in smaller living spaces.
